K9 Nose Work Classes

New K9NW sessions are starting at Zulu's TLC agility field in Concord this Wednesday 6/12 7:15 pm. Continuing students will be joined by NW beginner grads who are just starting on odor. A new beginner class starts Saturday July 27 at 10:30 am. Email CompleatCityDog@gmail.com for details.
Daytime K9NW classes have started at Mount Diablo Dog Training Club (MDDTC) in Concord. Contact Lee Ann More (lmore@comcast.net) for information on future classes there.

Nose Work is fun for handlers and dogs -- it is challenging brain work that's easy on the bones and muscles, a great way for dogs to get mental exercise and for handlers refine their body-language-reading skills. Since only 1 dog works at a time, it is suitable for shy or reactive dogs. Come to play -- or train for NW titles.

K9 Nose Work Classes

Interested in trying a new activity with your dog? A 6-week K9 Nose Work class is starting Saturday May 5, 12:30-2 in Concord. It's fun for canines and humans; dogs learn to use their noses to find first food and then specific odors in four "elements" (containers, interiors, exteriors, and vehicles). Handlers are in charge of rewarding finds and managing practice sessions to gradually increase hide difficulty.

Since only one dog works at a time, while others are crated, Nose Work is great for shy and aggressive dogs. The focused brain work provides a real workout for retired or recovering sport dogs (and their people) too, with few physical requirements.
